Update, Maybe?

It's been over a month since I blogged. We've done so many things, and yet...practically no pictures. Not even any pictures of the Thanksgiving turkey I made, or the food and friends we celebrated with.  I even noticed a shift in Sophia's pictures. Where we used to take 70+ pictures a month, I now have a folder labeled "24 and 25 months old" because there were so few pictures. Sad. So. Here are almost all the pictures my camera took within the past month and a half.

Sophia hurt her ankle while jumping from the ottoman to the couch at a friend's house. It was pretty sad for such a small girl to have a swollen ankle. Even though this happened well over a month ago, if I ask if she's hurt or if she's okay, sometimes she'll hold her foot and reply, "Ankle. Maddie's house."

I thought it was cute that she was devouring this foot-long licorice like that, and while we weren't looking, she truly did devour the entire thing.

 ha. Russ's face.

Apparently I only get out the camera when Sophia wears pajamas. Or else she wears pajamas all day.
Most times we walk past the broom on our way inside, Sophia feels the urge to sweep.

My faithful dishes helper. She sometimes gets mad and says, "BRUSH!" or "GOAP!" (soap) because she can't reach those on her own. Maybe she'll grow up to be a doctor... "Scalpel!"

This past week was the 50th anniversary of Dr Who, so we got together with a couple friends who also watch the show and watched the episode together. While decorating, I realized part of the fun of Dr Who is that things/creatures that are only in one or two episodes can be completely memorable (weeping angels? gas mask faces?)...

The story behind this picture is that Sophia wanted to wear a bow tie like Russ and I, but I told her no because she refused to put clothes on (naked phase) and we couldn't pin it on her. So Russ finally got her ready for bed, but she cried and screamed and would have none of it since all the fun was downstairs. When I went up and brought her back down, the first thing she said was, "Bow?" It was so cute, I decided I had to get a picture of the whole bow tie family. :)

And then today, we did a photoshoot with my friend, Stephanie. She planned everything, did my hair and makeup, and asked us to be her models. I hope we did all right. We had a lot of fun dressing up, and I was wearing so much makeup I felt like I was from the Capital...

I can't wait to see how all the pictures turned out! Here's a picture of a picture on her computer to give you an idea:

Sophia 2 Year Pictures and Video

Presenting.... our beautiful 2 year old!!!
Oh, the difference a year makes!

Continuing the tradition of taking a picture of Sophia in a birthday dress that matches the colors of her birthday party. :) I wonder how long I can keep that up.

Trying to hold up 2 fingers. It's tricky for her. She starts with all 5 fingers up, and tries to fold the last 2 down. haha Usually she gives up somewhere in the middle, holds up all 5, and proudly exclaims, "TWO!"

2 fingers mastered for the first time!

Her reaction when I showed her a giant leaf.

 Sweet little face :)
Look at that pink nose! It was cold and starting to rain on our "photo shoot"

The pictures from both years were taken in exactly the same location. Look how many more leaves were already on the ground last year! And last year I took the pictures 2.5 weeks earlier than this year, but now temperatures are already in the 40's and low 50's, (which made for a pretty cold and grumpy model) so I didn't want to wait any longer!

We also went to take a couple fall family pictures today. Here are some of my favorites:
We had to try hard to get a smile out of this girl. It went something like this: "Do you want to go play?" "No." "Do you need mommy to hold you?" "No." "Do you want to be upside down?" "Yeah"

And last, but never least, here is a video chronicling Sophia from ages 1 to 2. I can't believe how itty bitty she was last year!

Happy 2nd Birthday to Sophia!

Sophia turned TWO today! She is such a source of joy in our lives, and we feel so blessed to have her sweet girl in our family. They have certainly been 2 WONDERFUL years, and we can't wait to watch her continue to learn and grow as the years go by.
A couple weeks ago, Sophia participated in a photo shoot for our friend - Stephanie Hyde Photography
Babies certainly grow a lot physically from 0 to 1, but the amount of things Sophia can do at 2 that she didn't know at 1 is equally amazing. She learned over 50 baby signs and now knows about 100 words as well as over half the alphabet. This year she learned to walk, run, jump, and climb. She grew 6 inches and gained 6 pounds. The number of teeth she has doubled from 8 to 16 (and these last 8 were a LOT more painful than the first). She has opinions, favorite things, friends, and mimics everything she sees mommy and daddy do. Things that haven't changed this year are that she is still a good sleeper and a great eater. She's easy to put down for naps and bedtime, and wakes up at 8am or later. There's pretty much nothing she won't eat, but her very favorite food has always been cheese.

This year we had a very small friend birthday party for Sophia. I wanted her parties to represent her favorite things, and this year one of her very favorite things has been her baby doll! So the party theme ended up being a baby doll tea party. :) I'll admit that the decorations are for my benefit, not hers, but I had a lot of fun with them. She had 3 of her best little friends come over, and they had a blast. Sophia always gets really excited when friends come to her house to play.

Here are the cupcake toppers I made, and the party invitation.
Even the cake plate is wearing a tutu!
Playing with the new blocks
The teddy bear was made by my grandma, Sophia's great-grandma. As soon as she unwrapped it, she gave it a huge hug. :) And, if I may say so myself, I love the way the birthday bow I made turned out.

I love this picture because Sophia is trying to figure out how to hold up 2 fingers!! hahaha
I was so glad my mom was able to come to town to help celebrate Sophia's birthday again this year. Not sure what I would've done without her extra pair of hands, not to mention she brought about 75% of the decorations with her in her carry on suitcase :)
*I'll write another post about her visit - after I go through all the pictures :D*

Today is Sophia's actual birthday, so we headed over to the Mall of America and rode some rides, ate lunch, and did some shopping! Hooray that Daddy could come with us!
Always loves riding the carousel
She was excited to ride the cars, but then got scared. It was a little violent on the turns. She kept saying, "All done! All done!"
Not sure what this face is about, but Russ wanted to capture the moment of Sophia's first McDonald's Happy Meal. She ate the entire thing!
During lunch, Sophia would hop down from her chair, grab her new purse from Aunt Lissa, and say, "Bye bye" and walk around the food court. When did she get so grown up?
